LET'S TRY AGAIN

Ok, this is going to be attempt number two at writing about the weekend's events.

Clemson lost and Virginia Tech won. That's good. Of course, nobody's sold on the Hokies, but I think they have what it takes to make it all the way. Everyone loves Ohio St. so far, but it's not like they're world beaters. Same with LSU (the SEC keeps beating the crap out of each other). So it was an up and down Saturday.

Sunday, Luisa and I got up at around 6 to leave for Atlanta. The drive took three hours and the traffic was light. So light that I was boring myself into nodding off, but luckily, there were no accidents or death involved.

We got to the stadium for the Braves-Marlins game and found out that most of the tickets were sold out. Apparently, it was Boy Scout day or something, but all we could get were the $8 nosebleed seats. As you can see in this picture, we were really, really high.

Keep this in mind since this will be the limitations of the pictures of the game.

So we got to our seats after touring the stadium (Luisa's first time to Turner Field) and doing the pitching cage thingy. I said that I wanted to get around 80 before we left.

I topped out at 61. So we can forget about my MLB pitching career unless I can develop a knuckleball or a relyable eephus pitch.

So after that debacle, we got food and found our seats. I decided to wear my Blue Jays jersey and my floppy VT hat, just to spite all the GaTech fans. Luisa wore a Braves hat and a tank top. Here's the proof.

So then there was the parade of Cub Scouts at the game, and the game finally started. The Braves won 5-3, as the Marlins pretty much sleepwalked through the game. Jack McKeon fell asleep at the wheel and the Marlin's playoff chances are done. I think I'm going to put the over-under on pitches in AJ Burnett's next start at 115, and still take the over.

A few more pictures:

This is a picture of Carlos Delgado... I think.

This is a picture of Julio Franco... I think.

I know this is a picture of the banner in right field that says "Andruw's Brew Crew". Trust me on this one. Why did I take this picture? Because I wanted to complain that it would've been better if they had written "Andruw's Bruw Cruw" but that's just me.

(An aside, almost everyone treated "God Bless America" as the national anthem. I for one, did not. If you want to emulate the Yankees, fine. If you want "God Bless America" to be the national anthem, fine. But it isn't, and shouldn't be treated as the same as the Star Spangled Banner. Honestly, I'd stand in respect for everyone else, but I didn't remove my hat. Nor would I if I was an umpire on the field. It's the principle of the matter.

Anyway, the game ended and it only took me 45 minutes from the end of the game to get on 20. And that's with the farting around looking for something for Luisa to purchase. I, being the geographical genius I am, found a short-cut through the neighborhood and was able to beat most of the people out. It would've taken at least another 45 minutes if I had tried to go with the rest of the people, since the line wasn't moving at all. But luckily for me, nobody else had the presence of mind to take the backstreets.

We decided to go to Dave and Buster's for dinner. We played the games first and ended up winning about 1200 tickets, which bought us a pint glass, a golfball/tee set and a backscratcher, all with the Dave and Buster's logo. We played some other games and in all, spent about $30. Their system is brilliant from a money-making standpoint. But I don't want to get into detail about that now.

We had dinner after that, which was a bit overpriced, but that's alright. The Key Lime Pie was good too, but very overpriced. Another way to make a higher profit by increasing demand through imperfect information.

Then I took the drive back to Columbia, which took a bit longer than the drive to Atlanta, but I was in no big rush. We also played the car game with pididdles, and I destroyed Luisa, 8 to 1. It was no contest.

We got back at around midnight and I thought I was tired enough to go to sleep without Lunesta. That was a mistake. So I ended up sleeping on and off through the night, but I was able to get up reasonably quickly and make it through the day. So that was good.

Yesterday, I tried writing this post and applied to the Department of Corrections. As a statistician, not a parole officer. I also ended up going to the gym with Luisa and running for 40 minutes. And I was winded by the end of it, but I did the "sprint" workout for the last 20 minutes, so that's good.

Today has been more of the same. More job searching, more writing, more surfing the internet. I would like to find a job sometime in the near future so I can actually have some money in the bank. Or I may have to ask the parents for assistance. We'll see.

That's it for now. Tomorrow is the State Career Fair, so I definitely want to go to that and see what's available. There's a couple of agencies I'd like to talk to (DOT, Budget Control Board) and see what's available for an economist without his master's degree. And get my resume out there. Hopefully, it will go better than my last interviews at the Clemson Career Fair.

And finally, Gabe's sister Ashley, mentioned in one of the wedding posts, added me as a friend to the Facebook. And she's only 18, which means she was 17 when I thought she was hot. Ugh, I'm a dirty old man, not that I'd go for that now anyway. I happen to like my romantic life just the way it is right now.
